Long-Term Review:

The Nothing Phone 1 has been out for almost 5 months now, and we all know that the initial stage of the Nothing Phone 1’s software was very buggy and problematic. Today, I’d like to talk about how the Nothing phone is doing after 5 months, which includes tons of updates and improvements. would like to review everything category-wise:

  1. Performance: Normal Day-to-day Performance:

The Snapdragon 778g + till this day holds out strong as ever in terms of performance. The Nothing OS used to be very problematic in the initial stage, but now it feels very smooth and snappy, and apps load very fast, all thanks to its very light software. Its software gives a very similar experience to that of stock Android.

Gaming:

Well, if we talk about the gaming performance of this phone, it performs quite well, all thanks to the 778 g+ CPU paired with Adreno 642L GPU. I’d like to mention one thing that when running demanding titles like Genshin Impact, the game ran quite smoothly, but after 30 minutes or so of gaming, the phone got quite toasty and the performance depleted a bit.

  1. Design:

Now I would like to talk about my experience with the design of the Nothing Phone 1 over the past 3 months of usage. The first thing that gets the most attention is the glyph lights in the Nothing Phon1ck. I think they are not very practical, but they look quite cool and unique nonetheless. I think the design holds strong to this day, and this phone looks way more unique and minimalistic than other phones in its competition.

  1. Battery Life:

Now let’s talk about one of the most major aspects of the phone, which is nothing more than the battery life of the Nothing Phone 1. The battery life, I would say, is not phenomenal. According to my experience, the phone could not go through a day with a single charge in the morning if the use is a little heavy.

The other battery-related thing that I didn’t like about this phone is its mediocre charging speed. This phone takes about 30 minutes to get to 0-50% and slightly more than an hour to charge fully from 0-100%. I wish they would improve their charging speed, as it is quite slow compared to its competitors.

  1. Updates to Camera:

If we talk about the camera, the camera is the part that has received the most major updates throughout the 3-month usage span. There have been a lot of updates that Nothing has been releasing, and in all updates, the main focus has usually been the camera.

I would say the updates that the camera got heavy helped it improve over the past months. The pictures are very vivid, clear, way better than other Android devices in this price range, and they have colours very close to real colours that the eye sees, which indeed is amazing.

My Opinion:

I am a fan of minimalistic things, and as you all know, the Nothing company itself wants to promote the idea of minimalism in tech. I have a very positive experience with the device, except for one aspect, that is its battery, which is, one might say, quite mediocre. I would like to conclude this discussion by saying that this Phone is unique and holds out strong compared to other competitors in its price range, and is worth buying, except for the people who are very heavy users and require a lot of battery throughout the day.
